Mission and Organisation

Lyon Tourist Office and Convention Bureau – the Greater Lyon tourist office – is a non-profit organisation governed by the Non-Profit Organisations Law of 1901 (Loi de 1901). 

The organisation's mission is to promote the city of Lyon as a destination, through the development of business and leisure tourist activities in France and around the world.
The organisation informs and advises visitors, from individual tourists to professionals organising conventions and trade shows, tour operators, and the press. 

The Tourist Information Centre

The chairman is Jean-Michel Daclin.

The Tourist Information Centre welcomes and guides individual tourists visiting Lyon.
It helps them make the most of Lyon's tourist and cultural resources during their stay.
It has numerous reading materials, a shop and a booking centre.

The Professional Tour Guides Office 

It offers a wide range of guided visits for individuals or groups, in 10 languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Danish, Japanese and Chinese.

Visits to Lyon's various districts and cultural sites are regularly organised in French, as well as visits to the Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) district and the traboulesof the Croix-Rousse in English. 
The office represents thirty or so professional tour guides.

The Conventions and Trade Shows Bureau 

It promotes Lyon on the international business tourism market, in order to increase the number of events in Lyon. 
It helps organisers complete their projects by putting them in touch with local professionals selected for their competency.

The Promotion Department

It helps tour operators, travel agents and coach operators offer Lyon as a destination for stays and travel. 
It provides help and advice in the preparation of programmes, and acts as an interface with local service providers. 
It organises communication campaigns targeted at foreign audiences to promote Lyon as a destination.

Marketing

It designs various tourist products for individuals, which are sold via the booking centre and the website: LyonCityCard, package deals, and hotel and leisure activity bookings. 
It produces communication materials and tools such as websites, social networks, newsletters, and printed materials (maps, guides, documents for professional use, etc.).
It has relationships with local tourism professionals that are members (hotels, restaurants, service providers, etc.)
