What can you do in between matches?

Take advantage of your free time between matches to explore Lyon and enjoy the various festivities and entertainment laid on throughout the summer.

Make the most of your presence in Lyon to visit the city!

First of all, get yourself a  Lyon City Card : it gives you free access to  museums  and exhibitions in Lyon, public transport, one guided tour, 1  cruise , and numerous other services or discounts on shows and tourist attractions. 

Not to be missed:

The tours

Go on a  guided tour of Lyon : visits to explore the Lyon’s Old City and its Presqu’île are scheduled every day. You need to register if you want to take part!

  Other visiting formulas  also exist: by bus, bicycle, Segway, or on your own with an MP3…

The exhibitions

  • The " Divinement Foot! " exhibition at the  Gadagne museum  (free entry with the Lyon City Card)
  • Le sport européen à l'épreuve du nazisme , (European sport against Nazism), at the Centre of History of Resistance and Deportation  CHRD , from 22nd June 2016 to 29th January 2017 (free entry with the Lyon City Card)

The events

On the 21st June, the day before the match, enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of the  Fête de la Musique  music festival. La Fête de la musique takes on the Euro football vibe this year.

On following days, make the most of " Tout l’Monde dehors! " a great summer festival that boasts 300 free open-air events: concerts, shows, games, dancing lessons, and more, throughout the city. To celebrate the Euro, several football-themed events, such as open-air cinema, are planned this year. 

Book the shows you want to attend during the " Nuits de Fourvière " event, a great multidisciplinary festival held out-of-doors under the star-spangled sky, in the magical atmosphere of the ancient theatres of Fourvière.

Check out Le Sucre , the go-to venue for nights out at the Confluence in Lyon, between 10th June and 10th July. Music and football are clearly a match made in heaven! 

The Sport events

  • The UEFA EURO 2016 trophy will be travelling around France and stopping off in Lyon, where it will be presented to visitors fro 3rd to 5th June, a few days before the competition opens - in the Euro Train, at Perrache station.
  • The "Re Lyon Nous", This fun event on 5th June combines sport and culture with a chance to explore and try something new! Now in its second year, it takes on a Euro theme to celebrate the occasion
  • The EuRhône event, held on 25th June, promises a fun day out for everyone! Taking place between the Cité Internationale district and the terraces at La Guillotière, this race features teams rowing down the river Rhône in all sorts of weird and wonderful vessels trimmed up in the colours of all the nations taking part in the Euro. A truly carnival atmosphere!
  • The Streetfootballworld Festival 16, held between 30th June and 8th July 2016, the official UEFA International solidarity tournament brings together 500 disadvantaged young people from 80 countries.

Enjoy the terraces and shops, stroll along the wharfs and embankments and around the markets and parks… And of course, treat yourself to the various  restaurants  and  bouchons  of Lyon.
